Good to know in Australia
- All Australian SIMs, prepaid included, require ID verification at activation; a passport plus visa details usually works for new arrivals.
- No-lock-in monthly SIM plans are the norm; prepaid recharges usually run for 28 days, which means 13 payments a year rather than 12.
- Many plans include unlimited standard calls to the UK. Check the destination list. Otherwise pay-as-you-go UK calls are expensive.
- eSIM is widely supported and lets you activate within minutes, even keeping your UK SIM in the same phone.
Prices checked 11 Oct 2026. All prices include 10% GST, as Australian consumer prices must by law; what you see is what you pay each month. Providers change prices and offers often, and not every plan is sold at every address, so check on the provider’s site before you sign up. We don’t take commission and no provider pays to be listed. How this calculator works
- Choose how much data you need, how many lines and how many minutes of normal calls you’ll make to UK numbers
- Say whether you want no contract, prepaid only or an eSIM
- It works out what each plan really costs a month over 12 or 24 months, including set-up fees, offers and calls to the UK beyond the plan’s allowance, and puts the cheapest plan with enough data first
- Every plan links to the provider’s own page, with the date we checked the price
