Before you sign
- Visit at rush hour and do the school run once.
- Ask whether cooling is included or billed separately (chiller fees)
- Check how many cheques the landlord accepts. More cheques can mean higher rent
- Ask about pets, parking and building maintenance
- Know how much the rent can rise at renewal.
Before you commit: the regional situation. Conflict involving Iran has disrupted flights across the Gulf in 2026. The FCDO does not advise against travel to the UAE but asks people to be ready for disruption. Read the FCDO travel advice (last updated 24 July 2026).
