Some everyday UK medicines are controlled in the UAE. With the right paperwork you can bring them. Without it, they can be taken off you and you could face legal trouble.
- Check whether your medicine is controlled. Common UK examples include codeine (and co-codamol), dihydrocodeine, tramadol, diazepam, zopiclone, pregabalin, gabapentin and ADHD medicines such as methylphenidate and lisdexamfetamine
- Apply online for the free permit before you travel. The FCDO says to allow up to 5 working days
- Travel with the permit, your prescription and the medicine in its original packaging

CBD is illegal in any form, including skincare and vape refills. Possessing illegal drugs, even traces, can mean prison or a fine of AED 20,000–100,000.
